It is important to regular check your fence and do ongoing maintenance. The most common repair to an electric fence is due to rust. Rust occurs because of wear and tear, acid rain and the harsh South African sun. Any of these will cause the fence wire to rust and deteriorate and it will need to be replaced. If the fence wires were not joined correctly when installed you will also find corrosion and breaking of the wire at these joins, due to the electrolytic effect.
Bobbins can get cracked by sun and energisers can get damaged by power surges or lightning storms. Remember to check your energiser battery and replace old batteries regularly
It is not recommended that you do electric fence repairs yourself. Rather leave it to the professionals who have the expertise and knowledge to repair your fence as good as new.
